Design and Features
The Nokia Asha 201 is a somewhat small sized handset that boasts a mini QWERTY hard keyboard. Measuring at 115.4 by 61.1 by 14mm, the phone is also light, weighing at just 105g. Its weight and size make it comfortable to use and easy to fit into your pocket.
The build is solid enough, though not impressive. The plastic does feel sturdy, but the back plate could prove a bit bothersome at times. A microSD card slot is positioned on the right edge, beneath a hinged cover. You’re going to have to make use of this in order to extend the 10MB of built in storage. Apart from that, the rest of ports and connectors are positioned on the phone’s top, with the left and bottom edges being clear. On the top, you’ll find a headphones connector, USB port as well as a connector used by the charger (charging via the USB is not an option). There are no shortcuts for volume or the 2MP camera. Speaking of the 2MP camera the phone is equipped with, it unfortunately doesn’t have a flash and the pictures it can deliver are decent, but not too outstanding.

Pros
The phone’s keyboard is quite comfortable as well as easy to use, and when you take into consideration of its price, it makes this phone even more appealing.
We’re also keen on the good battery, since battery life proved to be great. Facebook and Twitter integration is neat as well, as is the fact that the model has a MicroSD card slot. The solid build is definitely another bonus.
Cons
Unfortunately, the model has its flaws, like the fact that it runs a bit too slow. Loading time for apps wasn’t exaggerated, but it proved a little annoying at times. The phone also lacks 3G, which means that online activities are sluggish as well, from casual web navigation to downloading to just getting Twitter feed updates. Wi-Fi isn’t offered either, so that means you can’t hook up to a wireless network for better speeds, which could have been a great addition. You don’t have the possibility of importing contacts from Facebook or Twitter; instead, you’re required to manually add them, which can be bothersome.
The camera and video recorder also proved to be less than impressive, and the small sized screen isn’t that attractive either. Sizing at 2.4 inches and with a 240 by 320 pixels resolution, the display is rather small.
Conclusion
Using the outdated S40 operating system wasn’t one of Nokia’s best choices when it comes to this phone, neither is the fact that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth aren’t offered. There are a lot of things that could use an improvement. The sluggish processor isn’t that attractive and both Wi-Fi and 3G could have made this model a more worthy phone for this year. The trade in for the low specs is the awesome battery life, which managed to impress us. Build quality is another strongpoint, not to mention the comfortable keyboard.
Even with its downsides, the Nokia Asha 201 is a low cost feature phone plus with a sturdy build and impressive battery life.
